The One Who Came Back

Ten were healed. Why did only one say thank you?

Ten men with a skin disease had to live outside the village and shout “unclean” so people would keep away. They called to Jesus from a distance. He told them to go show the priests, and on the way, they were healed. One of them turned around, ran back, and threw himself at Jesus’ feet to say thank you. He was a Samaritan, a foreigner. Jesus asked, “Where are the other nine?”

About 5 minutes: 3 choices and 2 ways-of-knowing stops. Kids play one of the ten calling out, then the one who turns back. It’s the Bible’s plainest story about saying thank you, and about the outsider who gets it right. Jesus is a soft light, never a person.
