About this story: The King on a Donkey (Mark 11:1–11; Luke 19:28–40)
Jesus sent two friends to borrow a young donkey nobody had ever ridden. He rode it down the hill into Jerusalem while crowds spread their cloaks and palm branches on the road and shouted, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” Some leaders told him to quiet them. Jesus said if they were quiet, the stones would shout.
About 5 minutes: 3 choices and 2 ways-of-knowing stops. Kids play a friend sent to borrow the donkey, the donkey’s owner, and a child in the crowd deciding whether to shout. It opens the Holy Week and Easter path. Jesus is a soft light on the donkey, never a person.
