About this story: Elijah and the Still Small Voice (1 Kings 19:1–18)

Threatened by Queen Jezebel, the prophet Elijah runs into the desert, exhausted and sad: “I have had enough, LORD.” An angel brings him bread and water and lets him sleep. At God’s mountain, a wind, an earthquake and a fire pass by, but God is not in them. Then comes a still, small voice, and God tells Elijah he is not alone.

Kids play Elijah, make 4 choices, and stop 3 times to look through different ways of knowing, including a cover-your-ears calm-down for noisy moments. In the Bible, Elijah asks God to take his life (1 Kings 19:4); this version keeps his words “I have had enough,” and the grown-ups notes explain what to do if a child ever says something similar.
