In the Beginning

Where did everything come from?

God makes light, sky, sea and land, fills them with fish, birds, animals and people, calls it all very good, and rests. Told from Genesis 1 and 2, stopping before the snake.

For grown-ups

About this story: In the Beginning (Genesis 1–2)

The Bible’s first two chapters: God makes light, sky, sea and land, fills them with fish, birds, animals and people, looks at all of it and calls it very good, and rests on the seventh day. Chapter 2 adds the close-up: the garden, the man naming the animals, the woman made so he won’t be alone.

A gentle first story (about 5 minutes) that stops before the snake: 4 choices and 2 ways-of-knowing stops. Kids play a brand-new fish, Adam naming the animals, and a gardener in Eden. God is shown as sparkles, never as a person.
